BOPP Extrusion

Biaxially Oriented PP Film is stretched in both the machine direction (MD) and Traverse direction (TD) during production. This results in films with superior strength at low gauges, flatness, clarity, and excellent printability.

Salina runs its own BOPP production line which produces tailor made BOPP films. We use our films in-house for our conversion process. This gives us a unique advantage in terms of availability, accountability and quality control over converters who source their films externally and thus are dependent on third parties.

Our tailor made films can be designed to match specific customers' needs and specifications. Additionally, we produce two main types of standard BOPP films for standard packaging applications:

Salina's ST film is a bi-oriented heat set polypropylene film produced by a flat extrusion process. It is specially formulated to offer very good optical characteristics in terms of clarity and brilliance.

The film's main advantages are:

  • Good optical characteristics and nice appearance.
  • High mechanical characteristics.

Standard gauges are 25, 30, 35, 37, 40, 48, 50μ.

Salina's SC film is a bi-oriented heat set coextruded polypropylene film, designed to be used in a wide range of automatic packing machines of various types, especially on horizontal and vertical form fill & seal (FFS) and over wrapping machines.

Salina SC film is composed of three layers:SC film

      • Sealing layer (treated).
      • Transparent base (main) layer.
      • Sealing layer.

The film's main advantages are:

      • Excellent mechanical and optical characteristics.
      • Easy sealability.
      • Excellent coefficient of friction.

Standard gauges are 18, 20, 25, 28, 30, 35, 40, 50μ.
